The Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions
1. What kind of music does The Austin Beats play?
The band specialises in 60’s pop with a little 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. The timeless nature of this music is ideal for entertaining audiences of all ages at festivals, corporate functions, theatres and weddings. The Beatles and Rolling Stones are as popular as ever, having been recently covered by Mcfly and Oasis. This has made The Austin Beats popular with student and university crowds, as well as audiences that remember the 60’s!
2. How long do you play for?
The set can be tailored to the individual event. For a typical party or function show we recommend either 2 x45 minute sets or 2 x 1 hour sets, any longer can be overkill for live music. This is then best complemented by a DJ or with background music. For festivals and venues the band can be booked to play shorter sets.
3. How far do you travel?
Although The Austin Beats mainly cover the south east of UK, the band will travel further. All travel is taken into account when pricing your event.
4. Who are The Austin Beats?
The Austin Beats consist of Lee Chapman – guitar/vocals, James Burrows – bass/vocals, Andrew Robinson – keyboard/vocals, Tom Gladwin – guitar and Robert Fenn – drums. The band's line up may vary slightly in the event of illness or holidays.
5. When is the band available for bookings?
You can book The Austin Beats throughout the year however certain times of year are more popular than others. If you are looking to book the band during holiday times, such as Christmas and Easter, or for a wedding reception it is worth booking well in advance.
6. What do you need me to supply when I book the band?
When you book The Austin Beats, unless you specify otherwise, the band will come “self contained”. This means we will supply all sound and lighting for the performance. The only requirements are plug sockets, floor space and basic changing facilities. More information on this can be found on the booking options page. The band can be booked without the sound system and lighting for such events as festivals and music venues.
7. Is there anything else I can do to help our event run smoothly?
It is always helpful to supply as much information as possible when booking. If the venue has restricted access or flights of stairs please make us aware of this at the time of booking. Please also notify us of any noise restrictions and sound limiters. Timing is everything so it is worth considering what time you would like the band to play during the event, too early could mean that your guests may not be ready to dance and sing along, too late and your guests may be too tired to make the most of the live music!
8. We’re thinking about booking a DJ, as well as the band, can you help?
Yes. We have a full entertainment package that includes 2 DJs and all the necessary sound and lighting equipment. This includes all dance floor lighting which is ideal if you are booking entertainment for a venue that doesn’t have an in house sound or lighting system. If you are working on a budget we also have our Virtual DJ option, this is an automated system running pre-mixed background, disco or dance music. For more information please go to our booking options page.
9. How can we hear you before we book you?
The Austin Beats website has a media page that contains many live recordings in MP3 format to download. You can also view a video at the top of every page, just click on the play button to view. In some cases it may be possible to invite clients to live performances however, due to the high volume of private parties, it is often difficult to do so. If you would like to see the band perform live feel free to contact us and we will do everything we can to organise this. Please also check our news page for listings of public performances and ticket events.
10. How much do you charge?
Many variables are taken into account when pricing the band for your event, such as travel, sound and lighting requirements, sound check / performance times and any other special requirements. Please fill in the booking form, giving as much information as possible, we will then be able to generate an accurate quote for you.
